Garage & Metal Building Insulation in the Florida Sun

Garage & Metal Building Insulation solves two problems at once in Southwest Florida: heat that radiates down from a sun-baked roof, and condensation that forms when humid air hits cool steel. Bare metal panels drip once a space gets air conditioning, and an uninsulated garage under a flat or low-slope roof can make the rooms next to it uncomfortable all afternoon.

Metal buildings

Closed-cell foam bonds directly to steel panels and purlins, adds rigidity, and acts as a vapor retarder, which is why it is the usual choice for metal buildings, storage buildings and workshops. It also seals the lap joints and fastener lines where outside air gets in. For buildings with existing faced fiberglass that is torn or sagging, we can remove it first.

Attached garages

In an attached garage, the goal is usually to keep heat and fumes out of the house. That means sealing and insulating the shared wall and the ceiling under any living space above, and sometimes insulating the garage ceiling or roof deck if you plan to add a mini-split or use the space as a workshop or gym.

Garage conversions

Turning a garage into living space brings the walls, ceiling and floor under the energy code. We can foam the walls and ceiling once framing is up, with values that match the plans your builder or designer submits.

Doors and openings

Insulating a metal building does not help much if large roll-up doors stay open or leak air. We look at door seals and gaps at the base of walls, and we can seal them at the same time.

Coatings

Some buildings need a protective coating over exposed foam, depending on how the space is used and what code applies. We tell you if yours does and include it on the quote.

How It Works

1. Walk the building

We measure walls and roof, note panel type, existing insulation, doors and how the space is cooled.

2. Quote

The written quote lists the foam, thickness and target R-value for walls and roof.

3. Prep

Panels cleaned of oil or dust, equipment covered and openings masked.

4. Spray and inspect

Foam applied in passes, thickness checked and the building aired out.

Garage & Metal Building Insulation Questions

Do I need closed cell for a metal building?

In most cases, yes. Closed cell sticks to steel, resists moisture and stops the condensation that drips from bare panels once a building is cooled.

Will insulating my garage make the house cooler?

Sealing and insulating the walls and ceilings shared with the house usually helps the rooms next to the garage. Insulating the garage itself matters more if you plan to cool it.

Can foam go over existing fiberglass in a metal building?

Usually not well. Torn or sagging faced fiberglass is often removed so foam can bond to the steel.

Does a garage conversion need a permit?

Converting a garage to living space typically requires a permit from the building department. We insulate to the values on the approved plans.
